![]() It's on sale for $322 USD right now which sounds like a lot - but it's a one-time fee for ALL THE PLUGINS and lifetime updates. I have to recommend VOXENGO, and specifically the Voxengo Premium Membership. That would bring the price down to $35-$60 a year which isn't bad at all if you own a bunch of Waves plugins.Īnyhow, to ACTUALLY answer your question. Then pay for a year - get all the updates - and be done for another 3-5 years. So theoretically a person could go 3-5 years without updating. The most COST EFFECTIVE way to use Waves Update Plan is to only update when you need to. Little improvements, quietly unannounced. I just see them every once in a while when I check in with Waves Central. I have no idea why they aren't publicized more, because that is added value. The thing is - Waves quietly issues a lot of miscellaneous bug fixes and minor feature improvements. (Got Vocal Bender and CLA Epic last year.) So I pay $180 a year to keep them updated, and that includes any additions to Mercury. Fingers crossed.īut like your list - I just have too many great plugins that I wouldn't want to work without. I'm banking on 4K updates for everything in V13. I went all in and bought in for two years of the update plan last time it was on sale for 25% off. Then add in Abbey Road Collection and a few other selects and next thing you know you have this incredible library of tools. The way I see it, I get all new Waves Plugins for $29 and I quite literally own nearly all of them at this point because once you own a few they eventually send you a sweet upgrade offer for Mercury which is impossible to refuse. Your list is one reason I love Waves in spite of the update plan. Search your drive and delete everything related to Waveshell (check the locations to make sure there are no sidecar files.).Uninstall all Waves plugins & Waves Central.Your WaveShell problem could likely be corrected: In the end I'd love to find 2021 alternatives to all of these and not have to upgrade anything. SSLChannel (I love the UAD version but it takes up an ungodly amount of DSP so I still prefer using the Waves most of the time).PS22 (great for transforming boring mono sounds).MV2 (Low-level compressor all these years I've never found another plug similar to it).It does a certain great thing on bass guitar for me. CLA Bass (I don't know why, but out of all the CLA 'does it all plugins' this is the only one I've ever really liked.H-Delay (ok yes I actually have Echoboy and a few others, but there's something beautifully simple and easy and great sounding to me about H-Delay).RComp & RVox (It's not my go to comps, I have plenty from others and UAD, but I've always liked how easy they are and they still stand up after all these years). ![]() RBass, LoAir, MaxxBass – all useful low end tools for me.Rather than upgrade, I'm thinking of just finding better replacements of the following: ![]() I use a lot of UAD and others for all the classic comps and EQs, but there are still a few Waves plugs that I hang onto either out of ease or comfort. I'm pretty sure it's planned obsolescence. Since I've bought their plugins from over the years, we're talking several hundred bucks every time they pull this stunt, and I've had enough of this shit. This has happened to me before in the past and with other DAWs, shortly after they updated versions and when I've called support, their only "help" was that I needed to pay to upgrade. ![]() Right now Logic crashes every time I open any project with Waves loaded - some error message about loading WaveShell etc. I've noticed at some point after they release a new version of their plugins, projects will start to constantly crash on me. Like many of you, I've grown very sick of Waves' licensing system. ![]()
